Aloha, beautiful people!!
Today’s topic: Ho’ oponopono
What’s that, you ask?
It is the ancient Hawaiian healing technique of reconciliation & forgiveness. It’s a beautiful exercise & one I have practiced on occasion. It seems kinda weird at first, but once you get into it, it turns into this beautiful meditation.
This method of healing has been practiced by the Kahunas (healers) of Hawaii for many many years. It is a very simple exercise of repeating the four phrases: I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, over & over.
Now, I would like to suggest tweaking it a bit. I have learned from other great teachers that the 2 most powerful words in human language are I AM. And because of this I believe we should be careful what we put after the words I AM. It is a statement of fact to the Universe & should be taken very seriously. For example, if you are always saying, “I am sick & tired…” of whatever… guess what? You are telling the Universe you are sick & tired, and it will be so.
For this practice of Ho’ oponopono, may I suggest either leaving out the phrase “I’m sorry”– because “sorry” is suggestive of grief or suffering. Within the definition of the word sorry are the words regret, pity, wretched, useless, pitiful etc. See what I’m saying? We don’t want to lay claim to such things!! Or perhaps we can substitute that particular phrase with “I apologize”.
Now, let’s take a look at the meaning of Ho’ oponopono. The word is translated as “to make right“. The practice became popular in modern times through the author, Dr. Joe Vitale. He writes about this practice in several of his books, such as The Secret Behind the Secret, Zero Limits, and The Abundance Paradigm.
What the “mantra” does is clear & cleanse & heal the part of yourself that creates challenges in your life, whether they be a certain person, a situation, or an event, etc. We must all realize we are 100% responsible for all that is in our lives. We create it on a conscious level through our thinking. And even on a subconscious level through programming we have been receiving our entire lives.
So basically you are speaking to your connection to your Higher Power. These phrases are like saying, “Please forgive me because I have been UNAWARE. Please forgive me because I did not consciously know what subconscious programming was inside of me,” according to Joe Vitale. You are cleaning & clearing all unconscious programming you’ve been accumulating throughout your life.
The phrase, Thank you takes you to a place of gratitude, & all KINDS of good things come to us when we are in a state of gratitude! And of course, the phrase, I love you never hurt ANYBODY!! ALL GOOD!
So give it a try. Find a quiet place & some time where you won’t be interrupted. Relax with a few deep breaths. And then begin to repeat the three or four phrases for a few minutes. Just see how it makes you feel. You might feel more peaceful… you may feel “lighter”. I love it!
I hope you enjoy Ho’ oponopono. And come back & see me soon!
With much Light & Love,
